Back in 2013 I started an epic journey of reviewing each James Bond film and then ranking them from worst to best.  Now that Bond 24 aka Spectre is out in cinemas, it felt like a good time to revisit them.

The reviews have gone through some housekeeping this week – new redesigned images and trailers for each individual Bond movie has been added to fit in with my blog theme.

    I love when someone ranks the Bond movies because no two people’s choices are the same.

      Indeed. Everyone has something they like about Bond hence why every list is different! And yes I rank Quantum of Solace highly and stand by that decision 🙂

      It’s not that I don’t like Roger Moore – far from it. He’s a fantastic Bond. When I wrote the review countdown, I took not only the film itself but the Bond history and its context. Moore’s Bond films are great fun but are a massive departure from Fleming’s original essence and creation. Despite that, his best film is The Spy Who Loved Me which is easily in my top ten.

      Just looked at your Bond list. It’s very good. I must admit though if I did my list again, I would agree with you – Spectre wouldn’t be in my top ten. The more I think about it, the more it doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. In my list, it’s probably be #12. Not the worst but certainly no the best. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is ranked too low 🙂

        Thanks for checking it out. It was difficult ranking all of them as I think they all have something good in them. It’s really been fun chatting with others about their rankings.

        It’s always difficult and that’s the beauty of it. I think what I love about my list is that I add Bond history and context behind my decisions which you never really see when someone ranks a Bond film. But I guess the overall acceptance with these films is acknowledging that the franchise is not perfect with each film having various degrees of success. In the end it comes down to preference and what it means to you. I know that sounds like common sense but sometimes a movie can mean more to people than they realise.

    Interesting ranking of the films. Just curious, was Never Say Never Again omitted because it wasn’t an Ion produced Bond film or because it too closely resembled Thunderball?
    I enjoyed your critique of Spectre as well.

      It was omitted because technically, Never Say Never Again is not an official Bond film. It was made out of a legal suit that EON were forced to accept since it was widely stated that Fleming did not come up with the plot of Thunderball by himself.

        Favourite Bond actor – has to be Connery. Craig is closely behind but really want to judge that once No Time to Die is released…eventually.
